Invited to the International Summit of Cities and Regions organized by President Zelensky, Édouard Philippe, Mayor of Le Havre, spoke during a panel devoted to the resilience of infrastructure and essential services.

He praised the “extraordinary effort of resistance and struggle” of the Ukrainian people and recalled the support that many Europeans provide to Ukraine every day.

The Mayor of Le Havre also addressed the challenges of the country’s reconstruction, to which his city is making a concrete contribution through its partnership with Mariupol. This includes La Cantine de Marioupol, a future culinary school to be established in Dnipro and designed to support the rehabilitation of veterans through cooking. Another example is the pilot eco-district project for social housing in Bila Tserkva, supported by companies from Le Havre.

Édouard Philippe stressed the importance of planning, from today, a sustainable and high-quality reconstruction, with particular attention to the design of rebuilt housing and facilities.

In the context of Ukraine’s reconstruction, these forms of cooperation not only provide concrete support to Ukrainian local authorities, but also make it possible to share proven solutions in urban planning, housing, public services, energy transition and territorial resilience. In this way, they contribute to building a sustainable reconstruction, focused on the future and serving both people and territories.
