After a night train from Lviv, Chef Thierry Marx continued his visit to Ukraine in Kyiv.
In Kyiv, cooking and training were at the heart of the exchanges during a meeting organized with Expertise France in Ukraine, Культура їжі | Cult Food, and the French Embassy in Ukraine, held at the offices of UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group. The evening was opened by Gael Veyssiere, French Ambassador to Ukraine.
Alongside Ukrainian chef Ievgen Klopotenko, Thierry Marx cooked with Ukrainian trainees trained in France, including former military personnel and displaced persons, particularly from Mariupol, as well as teachers from the vocational high school for hospitality and catering in Chernihiv.
In Ukraine, Expertise France is leading the STIYKIST project, which aims to strengthen the skills of teachers and trainers in the hospitality and catering sector, in collaboration with Ukrainian chef Yevhen Klopotenko and the NGO Cult Food.
This work is part of a broader effort to reinforce vocational training in Ukraine.
The trainees who were trained in France are part of the program led by Stand With Ukraine and Cuisine Mode d’Emploi(s) with Thierry Marx, which has already included training sessions in Le Havre and Toulouse.
The day was also marked by a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, where Minister Andrij Sybiha awarded Thierry Marx the “Amber Heart” distinction in recognition of his commitment to supporting Ukrainian veterans.
The next phase of the project is being prepared in Dnipro, with the upcoming opening of La Cantine de Marioupol.
