For over three years, ties between France and Ukraine have continued to grow stronger, driven by a spirit of concrete solidarity among citizens, local authorities, and associations. It is within this momentum that the official signing of the charter of friendship between Nogent-sur-Marne and the Ukrainian city of Kolomyia took place this weekend.
This commitment was formalized by Jacques J.P. Martin, Mayor of Nogent-sur-Marne, and Bogdan Stanislavskyi, Mayor of Kolomyia, in the presence of representatives from the Embassy of Ukraine in France, symbolizing the shared will to forge strong bonds—reflecting the growing number of partnerships between French and Ukrainian municipalities.
The charter marks the beginning of a lasting partnership between the two towns, in line with the MistoMatch program, which promotes cooperation between French and Ukrainian cities on key topics such as culture, education, the environment, and the exchange of best practices.
The signing took place during a day dedicated to Ukraine, featuring a painting exhibition, creative workshops, a children’s choir, and the discovery of traditional cuisine and authentic Ukrainian products.
The day concluded with a charity concert, with all proceeds dedicated to purchasing a vehicle for a rehabilitation center in Ukraine—a concrete gesture of solidarity with the Ukrainian population affected by the war.
This new partnership reflects the citizens’ commitment to building lasting ties between the two countries and serves as a reminder that European solidarity is first and foremost built at the local level.
