Ukraine was once again the target of a large-scale aerial assault during the night of May 6 to 7. According to Ukrainian authorities, Russia launched four ballistic missiles and deployed over 140 drones across several regions, including Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Kherson, and Dnipro.
Emergency services responded swiftly to assist affected civilians. As of now, authorities report seven people injured, including four children. A mother and her son tragically lost their lives in one of the strikes.
Significant damage has also been reported. In Zaporizhzhia, drones destroyed homes, damaged civilian infrastructure, and caused power outages affecting approximately 42,000 people.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called for stronger international sanctions against Russia. According to him, only increased pressure on the aggressor — particularly through tougher economic sanctions and greater support for Ukraine’s air defense — can pave the way to peace.
This latest night of attacks is yet another reminder of the brutality of Russia’s war of aggression, which continues to kill and terrorize civilians with impunity.
A strong international response is urgently needed, along with concrete steps to bring those responsible for these war crimes to justice.
