A look back at the first Summer Camp organized by the City of Moret-Loing-et-Orvanne
At the end of July 2025, the City of Moret-Loing-et-Orvanne organized the first edition of its Summer Camp, bringing together 27 young people and around ten chaperones from the twin towns: Louny (Czech Republic), Zschopau (Germany), Kilkenny (Ireland), and Pokrovske (Ukraine).
This summer camp, initiated by the City as part of its European partnerships, aimed to bring together all of its twin towns to foster intercultural exchanges between young people. As part of the MistoMatch program, which established the partnership between Moret-Loing-et-Orvanne and the Ukrainian municipality of Pokrovske, six young people (four girls and two boys), accompanied by two adults, were able to participate in this first edition. They shared a week rich in discoveries, encounters, and conviviality, in a warm and multicultural atmosphere.
Unforgettable visits and varied activities
The program of the stay allowed the young people to discover the must-see attractions of the Paris region:
In Paris: visit to the Eiffel Tower, cruise on a bateau-mouche on the Seine, and stop in front of Notre-Dame Cathedral.
In Fontainebleau: stroll through the forest, gardens, and castle, a magical charm much appreciated by the young people.
The group also enjoyed numerous sports and fun activities: bowling, go-karting in Dammarie-les-Lys, swimming, sports at the gym, a walk along the canal and the Loing, as well as a visit to the historic center of Moret.
The municipal recreation center hosted the entire group for accommodation, meals, and activities, creating a setting conducive to intercultural exchanges and the creation of shared memories.
This stay represented a real moment of respite for them, away from the hardships associated with Russian aggression and the violence inflicted on civilians. They were able to practice their English, discover French culture, build strong bonds with other young Europeans, and, above all, escape for a few days from the war-torn daily life.
This Summer Camp is fully in line with the values of solidarity, peace, and fraternity shared between the cities.
