After two months of intensive training at the Cuisine Mode d\u2019Emploi(s)<\/strong> school, the first class of Ukrainian chefs has officially graduated in Toulouse.<\/p>\n

Last night, a powerful moment of solidarity and emotion was shared during the graduation ceremony for the Ukrainian trainees at Cuisine Mode d\u2019Emploi(s). The 12 apprentices, temporarily displaced from Mariupol, received their diplomas from the hands of Michelin-starred chef Thierry Marx<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

This project, led by Stand With Ukraine<\/strong> in collaboration with Thierry Marx, aims to provide Ukrainian displaced persons with a solid foundation in traditional French cuisine.<\/p>\n

Held in the welcoming atmosphere of Le Court Circuit<\/strong> restaurant, the evening brought together supportive personalities and key figures from Toulouse and its region: local authorities, diplomats, Ukrainian associations, university leaders, key partners, and many friends of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The apprentices completed this training with remarkable dedication and determination, touching everyone present. For them, this program is a stepping stone to a brighter future, an opportunity to rebuild personally, and one day, to contribute to the reconstruction of their homeland.<\/p>\n

Speeches from Thierry Marx, the Ukrainian Ambassador to France, and the Mayor of Toulouse reaffirmed the values of fraternity and solidarity that unite our nations. Their words paid tribute to Ukraine and its people\u2014their resilience and courage. But it was the apprentices themselves who moved the audience the most, with their heartfelt words and expressions of gratitude and hope.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Jean-Luc Moudenc<\/strong>, Mayor of Toulouse, expressed his support for the project:<\/p>\n

“This training gives many a second chance, providing the tools to rebuild a professional life in gastronomy. When the importance of food is tied to friendship and solidarity, it takes on a profound meaning. Europe must always stand by Ukraine.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

For these apprentices, this training was far more than a culinary education. It gave them hope, helped them rebuild themselves, and brought joy back into their daily lives. Claude Lavallart<\/strong>, chef instructor, shared:
\n“The group was in perfect harmony. They are made for this profession, it\u2019s clear. Everything came together naturally, beyond the language barrier. Little by little, we built strong bonds. I\u2019m sad to see them leave.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Thierry Marx also emphasized how crucial it is for a nation at war to maintain its connection to its cuisine and terroir\u2014essential elements for preserving its identity. His Excellency Vadym Omelchenko<\/strong>, Ukraine\u2019s Ambassador to France, expressed his gratitude, echoing General de Gaulle\u2019s words from his June 18, 1940 appeal:
\n“Thank you, we are not alone, we are not alone, we are not alone.”<\/em><\/p>\n

The dinner prepared by the apprentices, under Thierry Marx\u2019s watchful eye, symbolized the transmission of knowledge and the cultural exchange between France and Ukraine. More than just a meal, it celebrated perseverance and dignity.<\/p>\n

During their final week of training in Toulouse, the apprentices prepared a celebratory meal before heading to Dnipro<\/strong> to inaugurate La Cantine de Marioupol<\/strong>. This space will highlight French culture while serving as a haven for displaced Mariupol residents, integrated into a renovated housing complex for nearly 400 displaced families.<\/p>\n

As a keepsake, a booklet containing all the recipes prepared during the training was translated into Ukrainian, printed, and signed by the team.<\/p>\n

Stand With Ukraine<\/strong> is proud to champion this project. Last night, we witnessed the power of human solidarity and the hope for a brighter future\u2014for these young people, for Ukraine, and for everyone who believes in peace and freedom.<\/p>\n
